Maybe if there were some free souls working there they could improve the vibe and make me want to come back. 46 saves 186 places including CUCINA enoteca Irvine, Lucca Cafe, Felixs Continental Cafe, Mama Cozzas, Playground DTSA. They don't like making substitutions on your order either. And if you aren't ordering a main dish, you have to sit at the bar, not at a table. No veggies for you, six months! The signs at the front are pretty clear that sitting without ordering is not allowed. Woe be it to you if you sit down before ordering, it's like the Soup Nazi skit in Seinfeld. You order your food at the register, then take your number back to a table. The good news on the high prices is that you won't want to be leaving a big tip because of the service. A truffle burger and a side dish with some tea will set you back $25, before tips. The truffle burger is probably my favorite dish, and the brussell sprouts make a great side dish. I have only been here for lunch, but all the dishes I have tried were winners. Starting off with the positives, the food is very good. With so few options for pure vegan restaurants, I wish this place fully lived up to its potential. I hope the management team reads this and reconsiders these issues in the future It's a shame, I love the restaurant, but the nuisances that come with eating there aren't worth it. There are other vegan restaurants that are more accommodating, in my opinion. I love the food but the management style leaves a LOT to be desired, it's just very bizarre. My friend and I just looked at each other in disbelief. We were told that usually they charge more for extra sweetener but that they'd make an exception this once. Lastly- as it happened today- the iced Macha tea my friend ordered wasn't sweet as it's always been in the past. Again, I would understand if the restaurant were full or busy- not the case, only 5 people on site. I was denied a table until she showed up. I said I wasn't sure, perhaps 10 minutes, that she was on her way. Another big deal- and it happened today as well- I go get a table for 2- my friend on the way- I was asked when she'd be coming. I could understand if the restaurant were busy. We were denied service because it's a "full menu service only"- most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, given that they only had literally 5 customers at the restaurant. That's what my daughter and I wanted to do on a sleepy Saturday afternoon. The big deal- there are a few- first off, if you go there for coffee and dessert, don't be surprise if they deny you service. The restaurant is closed ion Sundays- why- why can't they be closed on a less popular day, like a Tuesday. Did I say that the food is delicious? Here are my complaints- parking can be tricky - truly not a big deal. I have gone to Free soul Caffè for months now.
